Vertical Lift Modules
A vertical lift module (VLM) is an enclosed system of vertically arranged trays, an extraction platform and a series of computerized controls that delivers goods to an ergonomically positioned workstation where an operator picks or replenishes the goods. The VLM automatically locates stored goods and retrieves trays from both the front and back of the unit with a push of a button or a scan of a bar code.
The shelving locations are single deep. A tray or tote is inserted, extracted and transported between storage levels and picking locations via an elevator-like device with an automatic shuttle that travels up and down within the space between the storage columns.
Vertical lift modules provide easy access to materials and consolidate storage into a minimum building footprint. Properly integrated into the right material handling application, a VLM will increase picking productivity, maximize storage capacity, and create a secure environment for part storage.
